About the Book
The Grass is Greener Till You Get To The Other Side is a factual account of one couple’s experience of retiring to Belize in 2003.
They were surprised to find that the beauty of the tropics juxtaposed with widespread corruption and other negative cultural aspects that one finds in the melting pot of Belize. Some of those they felt could be attributed to the characteristics of their original buccaneer forefathers.
In spite of many unexpected trials and challenges they encountered over the next decade, they focussed on creating a worthwhile and interesting life by building a house; creating a beautiful tropical garden from nothing; devoting much time to caring for parrots and coatis who were stolen by nest robbers; caring for other neglected animals in general; and making new friends.
Her memoir is an adventure and provides guidance for anyone choosing to do the same.
